My Fashion Icons

Image
I had my number one in mind when I decided to write this post, but I must say it's been hard to fill in the blanks. My fashion icons change on a regular basis and my love for the fashion doesn't always match my love for the person. With that said I'm gonna start this off with number 5 and count down to my top fashion icon of all time! #5 -  Lana Del Rey The innate sex appeal, the marvelous mane, Lana has it all. I don't know if it's possible to mock that mane, but I will continue to try. (I also rocked those nails for a while) #4 - Bunny Meyer Bunny doesn't adhere to any rules when it comes to fashion. You have to admire her effortless glam grunge looks. Plus I've had the opportunity to hang out with her a few times and she's a pretty stellar human too. #3 - Demi Lovato Demi's style has always been ahead of the curve. We were both rocking the bowler when she was still on Disney Channel. I can't get enough of her rock n ro...

Build the Body You Want

Image
When you think of bodybuilding you might think of Arnold Schwarzenegger. When you think of women bodybuilding you probably think of something like this: This look isn't for everyone and the stereotype tends to keep most women away from this level of fitness, but bodybuilding isn't all about ultra tans and outrageously large physiques. It's about creating a lean, strong body. So if you are reading to get stronger, here are a few tips. Find a Plan I suggest a plan made specifically for women. Male training programs don't take into account the natural limitations of the female body. That's why I like this plan by Jamie Eason. It's a plan for women designed by one. Customize Your Plan Don't be afraid to adjust the routine and exercises. I couldn't do more than 10 push-ups when I first started working out so I switched the push ups for a bench press until I gained some strength. Sometimes I'd even combine all my arm workouts into one day ...

Macaroon Date Flavors: coffee, mint, lavender, and rose. I do not recommend the mint. School Supply Loot Poppin Haul If you read my Poppin Review , you know I'm a bit obsessed. I ended up getting the letter tray, pencil holder, bobbits tray, and pens. Walmart Finds Okay on a typical day I loathe Walmart, but every now and then you find some cute stuff. I fell in love with these T-shirts. They reminded me of my old sorority shirts.  Song Obsession I've been listening to this song on repeat all weekend.

Pins of the Week

Favorite Tech Apparently Tory Burch and Fitbit have teamed up to create these stylish fitness accessories. Favorite Office Inspiration I love a touch of gold in an office space. Favorite DIY I've gotten better at French Manicures, but I can never master that perfect curve. Loved this easy DIY for getting the perfect mani. Favorite Fashion Is it fall yet? I'm really missing the reds. Favorite Lip Look I'm loving nude lips for summer. Giving that extra shine to the center of your lips really adds plump and definition.

Easy Vegetarian Buffalo Wings

Image
Every now and then I get a serious carnivore craving. Today I was craving buffalo chicken, so I thought I'd try my hand at a vegetarian version. Ingredients: 1/4 cup of Barbecue Sauce 1/2 tablespoon of Hot Sauce 1 tablespoon grape jelly (optional) Chicken Substitute (I used Veggie Patch Nuggets) Directions: ~ Cook chicken substitute according to package directions ~ Meanwhile mix your sauces together in a shallow bowl ~ Toss the "chicken" in the sauce ~ Enjoy! This recipe is great because you can mix it up for different flavor. I prefer my buffalo sauce a little sweeter so I added jelly, you can leave it out for more spice. You can also water down the sauce to make a thinner coat. The choice is up to you.

My Top 5: Summer Nail Trends

Image
1. Neon - Have fun with this trend by using multiple neons. 2. Ombre  - The colors of the sunset give this look a summer flair. 3. Nautical - No need for special skills. This red, white, and blue theme is easy to create. 4. Tribal  - This one might take a bit of practice. Luckily there are a ton of tutorials online. 5. Gold Touch - A little shimmer makes this mani perfect for summer.

Trend Crush: Poppin

Image
This week's trend crush is an amazing office supply company called Poppin. I was immediately drawn to the eye popping colors from this brand, but I also love their simplistic design. Poppin has all the makings of an ultra stylish office. I'm getting ready to go back to work and I've been eyeballing a few things for my desk. I'm in love with the aqua and pink items because it matches my Lilly agenda perfectly. Here are a few of my favorites. Weekend in Review

Image
I spent a portion of my weekend with a bug, but I was determined to make the most of it. So here are the highlights. Saturday I managed to get a Fastpass to see Anna and Elsa at Magic Kingdom. Fastpasses were out days in advance since the day the sisters arrived in the park and the line was known to get up to 5 hours long! So I really lucked out. My Maltese Marilyn has ridiculous allergies and needs grooming constantly. To save on cost I thought I'd give it a go myself so here's our first at home grooming. Ended the weekend with some much deserved Italian Ice from the best place in Central Florida, Jeremiahs. I sampled the sea salted caramel and found it delightfully salty. Then I paired it with caffe latte. Excellent combo.

Books Every Twenty Something Should Read

Image
I've always enjoyed reading, but when I was in college it became a chore. I ended up reading psychology books for fun. Luckily, after I graduated I had more time to branch out. I've read a lot of great books over the years from classical to teen fiction. I thought I would offer some of my favorites geared especially to all you twenty somethings. These are the books that changed my adulthood. 1. The Great Gatsby One of the greatest classics of all time is actually a very easy read. You may not grasp all the metaphors and themes, but the action and romance will keep you hooked. 2. The Handmaid's Tale Margaret Atwood is probably the greatest feminist writer of our day. This book was her first full length novel. It's a futuristic dystopia viewed from the eyes of woman who's only purpose is to give birth. 3. Me Talk Pretty One Day  David Sedaris makes your pubescent years seem easy with his humorous teenage tales. I recommend any of his...

Show Your Curves: an outfit of the day

Image
My naturally wavy hair inspired this outfit of the day. I decided to use the inspiration to go with a bit of a summer grunge look. In fact my original intention was too call this post Summer Grunge, but after looking at the pictures yesterday I became distracted by something.  I started to analyze myself. Should I really be wearing this? My thighs look kind of big and the shirt is really tight. I know I'm not fat, but does this make me look fat? All of these thoughts were circling in my head, but I stopped and remembered how I felt when I first put the outfit on. I felt natural. Sometimes the camera or even the mirror can distort how we see ourselves. It's important to remember that the natural you, is the best you. So I rocked this outfit to breakfast and even got a compliment by an older gentleman that I had a pretty face. (I tried to overanalyze that too, but in the end took the compliment graciously.) So to all my girls out there I tell you, be natural. It's ...

Non-Profit Coffee Met up with a friend Friday afternoon for coffee at a place called Credo. Turns out this hip coffee house is actually a non-profit. You choose the price that is fair. I was surprised a place like this survived, but it seemed to have a serious following. Dinner with Sisaundra Lewis I've been seeing the woman with the golden lungs everywhere. I guess she's the only "celebrity" we have here in Orlando right now. Other than Carrot Top, I see him every now and then. Cupacake Break Stopped by B Cupcakes for these beauties. I'm a real snob when it comes to dessert, but this as close as it gets to gourmet in my hometown. I had the chocolate peanut butter and mom had the Elvis. They were both delicious, but so rich. All Play, No Work Tried to get some work done, but this guy wasn't having it.  See daily updates by following me on Instagram
