What's In My Beach Cosmetic Bag?

Image
Summer is a great time to go the beach and catch some rays, but after a day of body surfing (or real surfing if you're cooler than me) your skin and hair can be in a state of chaos. Here are a few things that I keep in my beach cosmetic bag to help me freshen up after a day in the sun. 1. Deodorant It's an obvious choice at the start of your day, but you may forget to bring it to the beach. It's likely that your newly tanned skin is dry and in need of some perspiration control. I love this fresh cucumber scent by Dove. 2. Dry Shampoo or Shine Spray I love the texture of my hair after being in the ocean, but the salty sea can leave your hair feeling dry or oily depending on your hair type. For oily hair, spray a bit of dry shampoo at your roots to freshen up. Batiste has a variety of scents and colors to choose from, so you don't have to worry about dusty gray roots. Dry hair needs a douse of moisture. This shine spray from Moroccan Oil is great becau...

My Top 5 Hair Products

Image
Today's top 5 picks are all about hair. Obviously these products are the ones that work best for me. I have naturally wavy, dry, frizzy hair so I go for products that help smooth it out. These 5 have outlasted many trials. Prep : Mane 'n Tail shampoo is the secret behind my hair strength and growth. I have seen amazing results with this stuff. Condition : Redken All Soft is a leave in conditioner for dry or brittle hair. I was hesitant to use it at first, but I found the trick is moderation. Overdose on this stuff and you'll have an oily mess. Style : Smooth by Lakme is my go-to for blow-drying. It has heat protection and keeps your hair... well, smooth. Perfect for taming waves. Hold : Garnier's flexible control hairspray has been on my shelves for years. I always hated hairspray because it made my hair stiff and sticky, but this stuff is the perfect amount of hold. Keeps the fly aways down without giving you helmet head. Clean : Batiste dry shampo...

There's something about a new hairstyle that revamps your passion for fashion. I've been wanting lavender hair for so long, but was worried about all the damage. Luckily my amazing stylist found a way to give me a semi-permanent color without over processing my hair. And it will all wash out before school starts again. But until then I'm enjoying this new look with some fun fashion. What I'm wearing : ~ crop top - garage ~ skater skirt - jcpenney ~ sunnies - forever 21 ~ booties - cotton on ~ hair bow - forever 21

Stay Cool with a Summer Updo

Image
The Florida heat has already become unbearable and it's not even technically Summer yet. If you live in a warm climate like I do, staying cool is the only goal. Here are a few updos to help you keep your cool this summer. The Ponytail This simple and easy updo can be spruced up with a side braid. The Sock Bun It's exactly what it sounds like a bun using a sock. You can find tutorials for this look all over YouTube, and it works for short and long hair.  Top Knot This look is similar to a bun, but a little messier. This look is done best with long hair. Braided Crown Keep your hair out of your face with this ethereal look. Which updo is your favorite?

This is possibly the most hodgepodge Pinterest favorites ever, but they might just be my favorite... favorites. Favorite Sunnies I am OBSESSED with round sunnies. The sad part is I can't find them anywhere! I saw one pair on Ebay, but they were $2 and came from China. If you have any less shady finds (no pun intended) please comment below!   Favorite Pop Favorite color pop that is. I was searching for long flowy pants (a current trend crush) and came across these. I love the bright color with the neutral top. Plus the shape makes her legs look killer long.   Favorite Nest If there's a name for this dĂ©cor style please inform me, but for now I'm calling it romantic meets woodlands. I love how the natural meets the classic with dark wood and soft white pieces.   Favorite Pout I'm loving this vampy look. It's definitely something I want to recreate.   Favorite Veganism This shirt was too cute to ignore. I know my fellow animal lover...

Long and Strong: A Hair Guide

Image
Every girl has been there, the painstakingly long process of growing out hair. Whether it's due to a hair cut gone wrong or an overdose of chemicals, we can all relate to how frustrating this process can be. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's gone on a google rampage trying to find the quickest way to get my hair back. Well the sad truth is there is no quick fix, but there is a remedy that will make this process far less painful.  This is the combination that worked for me. Overall good health is the key, but it may take some time to find which products work best for you. 1. Take a multivitamin every day.  Make sure to find one that contains biotin. Biotin is the beauty vitamin, it protects your hair and nails to support growth. These Multivites are my favorite. They provide a lot of immune support as well as biotin. 2. Follow a healthy diet and fitness routine. If you read my last post you know that I've been mostly vegetarian for 8 months. This has cer...
