Musical Discoveries

Image
Last week I spent time at a youth camp in Cleveland, Tennessee where a band blasted praise music to more than 1,000 students morning and night. It's always an amazing experience. Music is a great inspiration to me and the many thousands of young people who will get to experience this camp over the next few weeks. One musical discovery was a band called Johnnyswim. The praise band covered a song by them called Hallelujah and the original is definitely worth a listen. This folk duo will sing to your heart and the video will inspire you to do Kingdom Work. The next discovery was a song I've heard before, but it connected in a different way after this week. Needtobreathe's Multiplied has been a favorite among the Christian community for a while, and I must say nothing does this song justice like my good friend Livy's video of her time in Kazakhstan. "Pitch Perfect 2"

Image
The trailer for "Pitch Perfect 2" is out and I couldn't be more excited. I've been obsessed with a cappella groups since high school. I even tried out for one in college (turns out I'm not as great of a singer as I thought). However, the one thing that has me raging over "Pitch Perfect 2" is the YouTuber cameos. If you aren't into the YouTube community, you are seriously missing out. Everyone from Ellen to Lance Bass has a channel. You may have heard that Pentatonix will be making an appearance in the sequel, but I was jumping out of my seat excited to see Flula in the trailer. If you don't know Flula, he is a German DJ phenom with over 400,000 subscribers. YouTube has been at the center of music culture since Justin Bieber, and it's just going to get bigger. If you haven't already, check out the trailer for Pitch Perfect 2. Then check out Flula's series, Auto Tunes.

Dress for the Fest

When I was 19, I attended my first ever music festival. It was Warped Tour 2008. My friend and I were most excited about seeing a relatively new artist hit the stage... Katy Perry. Unfortunately, it turned out Katy Perry wasn't performing that day, but we still had an amazing time. There's something about festivals. There's this sense of belonging. It's hard to describe, but if you've been you know the feeling.Thousands of people all in the same place soaking in the energy of amazing music. Maybe that's why I've always enjoyed festival fashion. It brings back the nostalgia, the energy of those moments. Festival season is already approaching, and in celebration I thought I would share some of my favorite festival fashion inspirations. Here's just a few. You can find more on the Morning Lux Pinterest. via Forever 21.com via cindgarcia on Pinterest via weheartit.com What are your festival inspirations?
