Dealing with Hormonal Acne

Image
It's that time of the month... again. How do you know? Oh, just the mountains that have developed all over your face. It's a clear indicator that Aunt Flo is about to visit. Hormonal acne is a huge pain and nearly impossible to escape. Even if you have perfect complexion you are bound to get those annoying pimples every now and then. I've been having a huge problem with hormonal acne lately due to a switch in medication, but I've managed to find a few ways to deal with these demons. Here are my tips. 1. Wash your face regularly. This seems like a given, but the amount that you wash your face each day can depend on your complexion. I have rather dry skin and only wash my face once a day. If your face is more oily you may want to shoot for twice a day. 2. Use a cleansing brush. Don't worry you don't have to spend $100. Ulta sells one for under $30. Although the expensive version may work a little better, anything is better than just your hands. via  Ulta.c

Photo Diary: Spring Break

Image
The weather has been extremely bi-polar here in Florida, so I didn't get to enjoy the usual Spring Break beachside. However, I thought I would share some of my cloudy day adventures with you.  Had a delicious Vegan dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. Their chocolate chip cookies are my favorite.  Went antiquing and saw this. Meow. Spent some time at Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival. I waited 10 minutes to get the monorail shot. This was the only chance I got to wear shorts. Sampled some Florida Beer.  Went to St. Augustine with my mom. Flagler College is one of my favorite historical buildings. It was first known as the Ponce de Leon Hotel built by Henry Flagler. Now students actually live in the unique rooms that he created.  I finally bought one of these journals. I have no artistic ability, but it's fun to be creative. Saw the cast of The Middle filming at Magic Kingdom. Enjoyed a

Long and Strong: A Hair Guide

Image
Every girl has been there, the painstakingly long process of growing out hair. Whether it's due to a hair cut gone wrong or an overdose of chemicals, we can all relate to how frustrating this process can be. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's gone on a google rampage trying to find the quickest way to get my hair back. Well the sad truth is there is no quick fix, but there is a remedy that will make this process far less painful.  This is the combination that worked for me. Overall good health is the key, but it may take some time to find which products work best for you. 1. Take a multivitamin every day.  Make sure to find one that contains biotin. Biotin is the beauty vitamin, it protects your hair and nails to support growth. These Multivites are my favorite. They provide a lot of immune support as well as biotin. 2. Follow a healthy diet and fitness routine. If you read my last post you know that I've been mostly vegetarian for 8 months. This has cer

Toddler Fashion: Precious or Provocative?

Image
Recently I have been obsessed with what seems to be a new trend on social media. Parents are dressing their little girls as adults in stylish clothes, classic hairdos, and accessories. Then posting their pictures on the internet. Although I love to ooo and ahhh over these tiny fashionistas, I ask myself if its really okay to be portraying these toddlers as adults? I personally don't have children, but I could see myself indulging in the trend. I'm just not sure that I would be comfortable with seeing their face all over the web. I wonder if this toddler trend is precious or provactive? How would you feel about dressing your child as an adult? Would you be okay with posting these pictures for everyone to see? Tell me your thoughts down below.  via weheartit.com

Adventures in Veganism

Image
Eight months ago, I made the decision to become pescetarian. It was a decision, that for me, was a long time coming. Although I'd always enjoyed biting into a chicken sandwich I hated the sight of a whole chicken. I had trouble cooking meat for dinner, and absolutely refused  to eat any meat that truly resembled the animal. I was an oddity in my family. I grew up with hunters. I'd even seen deer slain right before my eyes. I consistently came up with excuses on Thanksgiving as to why I wasn't eating meat carved from the carcass of a turkey. Finally, after a few days of research I made the switch. I did it for many reasons. First, the reasons aforementioned. I was never a big meat eater anyway and hated the sight of raw meat. Second, economical reasons. One of the most shocking things that I read was that if all of the grain that went to livestock in this country actually went to feeding our hungry, no one would be hungry! Yea, seriously. Okay maybe it's all propagand

Dress for the Fest

Image
When I was 19, I attended my first ever music festival. It was Warped Tour 2008. My friend and I were most excited about seeing a relatively new artist hit the stage... Katy Perry. Unfortunately, it turned out Katy Perry wasn't performing that day, but we still had an amazing time. There's something about festivals. There's this sense of belonging. It's hard to describe, but if you've been you know the feeling.Thousands of people all in the same place soaking in the energy of amazing music. Maybe that's why I've always enjoyed festival fashion. It brings back the nostalgia, the energy of those moments. Festival season is already approaching, and in celebration I thought I would share some of my favorite festival fashion inspirations. Here's just a few. You can find more on the Morning Lux Pinterest. via Forever 21.com via cindgarcia on Pinterest via weheartit.com What are your festival inspirations?

Spring Style Staples

Image
Today marks the official start of spring! I don't know about you, but I'm ready to pack away those sweaters and pull out the sundresses. Spring is my favorite style season. I love the colors and the clothes. Not to mention it's a great opportunity to show that skin that's been hiding all winter. So to put you in the spring mood I've compiled a list of spring style staples. Here are the must-haves to make this season your best! The Maxi: Unlike other trends, this one has stuck around. Maxi dresses are essential for a night on the town or a walk on the beach. I love this one by American Rag. The print is right on trend. The Crop Top :  Here's your chance to show off that skin I was talking about. A basic crop top like this one from Forever 21 goes perfect with a pair of shorts or a flirty skirt. The Strappy Sandal: There's no wrong answer when it comes to strappy sandals. There's flats for the beach, wedges for date night, and if you&

Trend Crush: Coffee Bars

Image
Let's face it my world revolves around coffee. It's mine, and millions of others, drug of choice. Have a bad day? Make it better with coffee. Have a good day? Celebrate with coffee. It's a catalyst for life. For that reason, I've recently been obsessed with coffee bars. I love that you can make coffee a central part of your home. Adding a coffee bar is simple and can minimize the clutter in your kitchen. Here are a few essentials to help you create your own brew station with minimal impact on your wallet. Here's one of my favorites via pinterest.  Here's what you'll need: A small kitchen island, bookcase, dresser, or table: This is a great opportunity to go thrifting. You can also find some great options at overstock stores such as Home Goods and Marshalls. Hooks: Overstock stores have great shelf/hook combos like the one above, or you can just get plain hooks from Home Depot. Just make sure they can hold the weight of your mugs. If you do
